At UvA we teach courses that are directly related to our project. Last year a group of MA and RMA students studied how women and men took control of the streets of pre-industrial Amsterdam. The students worked towards a guided tour of Amsterdam’s gendered streets as their final assessment. During the course they learned how to assess gender dynamics in the street through observation, by looking at the built environment, and by studying primary materials such as tax records, drawings, songs and criminal records.  For a quick peak at some of the materials from the course have a look here, and stay tuned for a short video of the students final presentations: Sex & the City in early modern Amsterdam: a walking tour. This MA course will run again in 2017/2018: check this if you’re interested!
